Please join us in our celebration of the First Day of the festival of Ridvan, Saturday, April 20. We’d like to gather at 2:00 pm at the San Jose Baha’i Center, the program will begin at 2:30pm
“All the Divine Books and Scriptures have predicted and announced unto men the advent of the Most Great Revelation. None can adequately recount the verses recorded in the Books of former ages which forecast this supreme Bounty, this most mighty Bestowal.” — God Passes By p 145
The Birth of the Bahá’í Revelation took place in a fetid prison below ground in Tehran. Bahá’u’lláh describes it this way:
“One night in a dream, these exalted words were heard on every side: ‘Verily, We shall render Thee victorious by Thyself and by Thy pen. Grieve Thou not for that which hath befallen Thee, neither be Thou afraid, for Thou art in safety. Ere long will God raise up the treasures of the earth—men who will aid Thee through Thyself and through Thy Name, wherewith God hath revived the hearts of such as have recognized Him.” — GPB p 146
Bahá’u’lláh did not reveal Himself immediately. When He was released from the Síyáh-Chál, He was exiled from His native land in the dead of winter to the Iraqi city of Baghdad. There, Bahá’u’lláh, His family, and a group of believers would spend ten years before He proclaimed His mission.
Each year in April Baha’is the world over celebrate Baha’u’llah’s first intimation that He was the One promised in the Holy Books and prophecies of the world’s historic faiths. We look forward to celebrating this momentous event together.
Everyone is welcome. Please bring friends, family, and new acquaintances!
