Resilience of the Bahai’s of Iran Under Intensive Persecution (Persian Language)
April 15, 2023 @ 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Saturday April 15th, Noori Movahhed Ansari—recently arrived from Iran—will speak at the San Jose Baha’i Center on the subject of the recent persecution of the Baha’is of Iran and how they have continued in show resilience and courage in the face of religious persecution.
About Noori:
Noori’s life has been marked by a series of challenging events. Born to Muslim parents who hoped their children would dedicate their lives to God, she was deeply interested in the Baha’i faith from an early age. Despite her family’s opposition, she embraced the religion and found herself forced to leave home.
Eventually settling in Tehran, Noori married Mohammad Sheikhmovahhed and started a family. However, just four years later, during the Islamic revolution in Iran, her husband disappeared, leaving Noori to raise their two children on her own.
Despite these challenges, Noori remained committed to her faith and continued to serve the Baha’i community in Iran. She pursued a degree in psychology at the “underground” Baha’i Institute of Higher Education (BIHE) and eventually earned her master’s degree. Even as the Iranian government targeted members of the Baha’i faith, including her husband and other prominent scholars, Noori remained steadfast in her beliefs and commitment to service.
Today, Noori continues to live in Karaj, working tirelessly to spread awareness about the Baha’i Faith and its teachings. Her story is one of resilience and unwavering dedication to both her faith and her community.
Her talk will be given in Persian.
Please join us at 6:00 PM potluck dinner and to meet Noori. Her presentation will begin at 7:00 PM.
