Poova Murday Memorial Gathering

October 12 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Poova Murday

Dear Friends,

We invite you to attend a memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Poovanandeeran (Poova) Murday, a Knight of Bahá’u’lláh and devoted servant of the Cause.

Throughout his life, Poova placed his service to the Faith above all else, from pioneering to the Chagos Archipelago during the Ten Year Crusade, attending the first Baha’i World Congress in London in 1963 where the first elected Universal House of Justice was introduced, to supporting teaching projects across Africa, the United States, and the Pacific Islands.  His dedication, courage, and selflessness continue to inspire and uplift communities around the world.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12, at 11:00 am PDT at the San Jose Bahá’í Center, 945 Willow Street, San Jose, California, USA

For those attending in person, lunch will be served following the service, and all are welcome to stay for an informal story circle thereafter to share memories and reflections.

For those unable to attend in person, you are welcome to view the service only (apologies, no communication with those in the Baha’i Center is available) via

Zoom using the following link:  https://bit.ly/poova-memorial

Corresponding times are below for those in different time zones:

  • New York: 2:00 pm EDT
    United Kingdom: 7:00 pm BST
    Mauritius: 10:00 pm MUT

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tahirih Justice Foundation or Lawyers Without Borders, two organizations that reflect Poova’s lifelong commitment to justice and service.
