National Convention Report: Focus on the Most Challenging Issue
June 1 @ 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Please mark your calendars for this year’s National Convention report, which will be given by our delegate, Bob Henderson.
When: Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm
Where: San Jose Baha’i Center, 945 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125
Dinner will be provided!
We strongly encourage anyone who can attend. This National Convention was historically significant this year in its focus on the most vital and challenging issue facing the American Baha’i community and the wider community — racism.
Delegates from this year’s Convention sent a letter to the Universal House of Justice describing its significance, a portion of which is described here:
“The Convention was emotionally moved when delegates of African American, Indigenous American, and Latino heritage shared one heartfelt painful encounter with racism after another, providing a glimpse into the realities of our sisters and brothers who are living in a racially stratified society. Of particular note, reference was made to the traumatic weathering that people of color continue to endure. As noted by the National Spiritual Assembly, these consultations gave rise to a new spirit of healing. The National Assembly recognized this moving development as a third significant turning point in the recent history of National Conventions in the United States.”
We hope to see you all there.
