Feast of Kamal (Perfection)

The Feast of Kamal (Perfection) will be a neighborhood Feast, otherwise referred to as a decentralized Feast. The goal is to have multiple Feasts throughout the city. Rather than being held at the Baha’i Center, this Feast will be a potluck picnic held at Willow Street Frank Bramhall Park at 5pm: 1320 Willow St. San Jose, CA 95125

Please bring chairs or picnic blankets to sit on, and if you wish, food to share.

What is Feast?

Once every Bahá’í month, the community gathers for a Nineteen Day Feast. This is because Bahá’í months are nineteen days long. Bahá’u’lláh ordained this gathering in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, instructing His believers to come together every month even if “only water be served”.  The gathering includes devotions, consultation on community affairs, and a social portion.

Bahá’u’lláh’s son, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, said the following about these gatherings:

“This feast is held to foster comradeship and love, to call God to mind and supplicate Him with contrite hearts, and to encourage benevolent pursuits.”

“It rejoiceth mind and heart”

“If this feast be held in the proper fashion, the friends will, once in nineteen days, find themselves spiritually restored, and endued with a power that is not of this world.”
