Depolarizing Conversations about Race: a Braver Angels Workshop
June 11 @ 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
“Gather all people beneath the shadow of Thy bounty and cause them to unite in harmony, so that they may become as the rays of one sun, as the waves of one ocean, and as the fruit of one tree. May they drink from the same fountain. May they be refreshed by the same breeze. May they receive illumination from the same source of light.”
The Promulgation of Universal Peace, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
Sunday, June 11, 2023, the Baha’is of San Jose will sponsor a Braver Angels workshop on Depolarizing Conversations about Race.
Appropriately, this event will be held on Race Unity Day. In setting it for this date, we carry on the tradition established by the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States which, in 1957, drew inspiration from the work of Abdu’l-Baha, who encouraged the first Race Amity Conference held in the US on May 19-21, 1921.
Given the continuing catastrophic loss of black lives to violence triggered, in part, by racial prejudice and even animus, it is clear we need to amplify our efforts to create portals through which souls can enter into the healing light of Baha’u’llah’s message.
The goal of these free workshops is to build spiritual capabilities that we may learn how to confront this most vital and challenging issue and create bonds of love in the hearts of neighbors of all ethnicities.
We encourage anyone wishing to take meaningful action toward meeting this greatest challenge to attend.
